Once upon a time I got to write a post called Serena and Andre: Joined by Bike Pants. Didn’t think I’d live to use a headline like that again, but after tonight, how could I not?

Chris Chase of Yahoo Sports was the first journalist to report the substance of Serena’s obscenity, and it’s a doozy: “I’m going to shove this ball down your fucking throat!” Something tells me mom Oracene Price will not be too happy with Serena. As for Richard Williams… Expect a tinfoil hat.

McEnroe Also Defaulted for Using F-Bombs at a Grand Slam

The most fascinating thing about the CBS telecast was the difference in the views of Mary Carillo and John McEnroe. Predictably, Mac was all about the bad call. He fell strangely silent on the default. Bad memories? It took CBS way too long, more than 20 minutes, to bring up McEnroe’s painful default. And once it happened, of course McEnroe clung to the same explanation he’s held onto for 19 years:  that the rule changed and he didn’t realize it, so he got carried away and wound up defaulted.  Oh, the rule change caused the“just go fuck your mother.” If someone could send me a screencap of Carillo’s reaction shot, I would be so happy, it was priceless. Mary called that match and she knows Mac is still full of shit. He didn’t know the rule changed from 3 strikes to 2, I’ll accept that. But he was defaulted for telling the umpire to “just go fuck your mother!” Is McEnroe saying that if he had known the rule changed, that phrase wouldn’t have found it’s way out of his mouth? This wasn’t procedural, or a technicality, it’s about substance. Carillo is right – it’s the conduct, not the bad call or the rule, that is wrong.
